The Food Industry in India

According to IBEF, the Indian food industry is poised for huge growth, increasing its contribution to the world food trade every year. In India, the food sector has emerged as a high-profit sector. The role of the Indian government has been instrumental in the growth and development of the industry. The Indian food and grocery market is the world?s sixth largest, with retail contributing 70 per cent of the sales. It is projected to grow at the rate of 104 per cent, touching US$ 482 billion by 2020.

India is set to become a ?regional hubfor malt production as beer demand in emerging markets is growing at twice the rate of developed markets. India has the second-biggest malt production capacity in Asia. The Indian beer industry is growing at 15% per annum. Though we have thrived on large players in the beer making process like the UB Group, the culture of micro brewing is a trend that is quickly catching up. Brewing/Malting is an un-touched segment with an increase in the demand for breweries in the country and there is immense demand for trained professionals. Therefore, the career of a Yeast Maker has a bright future and opportunities are only going to rise in the coming years.
