Minimum ITI Diploma

Minimum experience of 2 to 4 years in a relevant field

The tasks an Evaporator Operator, Sugar is expected to perform include:

Boiling the sugarcane juice in evaporators so as to evaporate the excess water

Obtaining the specified consistency of the boiling sugarcane syrup for the manufacture of sugar

Operating the valves to add the juice in the evaporator up to the prescribed level

Starting the vacuum pump to create a vacuum

Exhausting the steam into the evaporator for heating the juice to the boiling point

Regulating the temperature and pressure gauges

Transferring the boiling juice from one evaporator to another by operating the valves

Re-boiling the juice in each evaporator for forming a syrup of the required consistency

Checking the syrup samples frequently drawn from the last evaporator

Releasing the syrup for storage in the tank for further processing

Ensuring that the air leakage is in line to prevent disturbances in boiling

Keeping all the records of data relating to the working of the evaporators

Using live steam if the temperature of the exhaust steam falls considerably

Skilled in taking time, temperature, pressure and volume readings

Proficient in using the hydrometer

Skilled in achieving the required consistency of the sugar syrup

Proficient in attending to more than one evaporator

Skilled at operating the vacuum pump to create a vacuum

Efficient in regulating the temperature and pressure gauges

Skilled in maintaining the boiling equipment

The Indian sugar industry has a total turnover of INR 500 billion per annum and contributes almost INR 22.5 billion to the central and state exchequer as tax and excise duty every year according to the sources of Ministry of Food and Government of India.

Given all these figures it is safe to say that the demand for an Evaporator Operator, Sugar is there in the present and will surely increase in the coming years.
