Rolling Machine Attendant (Tea)

Minimum Graduate from ITI

Minimum 1?3 years of experience required

The tasks a Roller Attendant is expected to perform include:

Feeding and tending the rolling machine to roll withered tea leaves

Signalling the Withering Loft Attendant to supply withered leaves for rolling

Charging the roller drum with the required quantity of withered leaves by hand or basket

Starting the machine to roll the withered leaves for the specified time

Adjusting the pressure of the machine as required by the manipulating lever

Stopping the machine when the leaves have been rolled and opening the trap door to release them into the container placed below

Feeding and tending the roll breaking machine to sieve the rolled leaves

Skilled in operating and maintaining the roller machine

Basic knowledge of the tea manufacturing process

Equipped in operating the roll breaking machine

Skilled in routine maintenance of the machine

In India, the tea industry is one of the oldest agro-based well organized industries. More than a million workers get direct employment from this industry. This shows that in coming decades a boom can be expected in the sector with immense demand for skilled workers which gives the Roller Attendant a bright career in the future.
