The tasks a Dehydrator Tender (Canning & Preservation) is expected to perform include:
Tending sulphur and drying chambers to bleach and dehydrate fruits
Starting conveyors to load trays with fruit
Levelling fruit in trays to ensure thorough processing
Pushing loaded cart into sulphur chamber and lighting burner to generate fumes
Moving cart from sulphur chamber into drying chamber to dehydrate fruit
Observing gauges and regulating and maintaining specified temperature and humidity in drying chambers
Observing fruit during dehydrating process to ascertain firmness and colour in accordance with standards
Pulling cart from heating chamber
Recording drying time of each load
Knowledge of safety and hygiene regulations
Knowledge of production processes and quality control
Knowledge of criticality of temperature and humidity in sulphur chambers
Ability to regulate and maintain required temperature
Basic knowledge of time taken by a fruit to dehydrate
Skilled in monitoring gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure machine is working properly
