Minimum 2?4 years of experience in food pressing

The tasks a Seaming Machine Operator (Food Canning & Preserving) is expected to perform include:

Seaming tops or bottoms on metal containers to form open-top cans

Closing filled cans by feeding and tending automatic double seaming machine

Loading feed hopper of machine with tin-can ends (tops or bottoms)

Observing machine operations as can shells or filled cans enter machine in upright position by conveyor

Observing that cans and ends are properly joined and seamed together

Starting, stopping and clearing machine when jams occur

Oiling and making minor repairs to machine

Adjusting mechanism to accommodate various sizes of containers

Knowledge of safety and hygiene regulations

Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control

Skilled in handling, installing and positioning cans

Skilled in sealing seamed cans with the help of machines

Ability to troubleshoot the machine

Knowledge of relevant tools and equipment

Skilled in monitoring gauges, dials or other indicators
