The tasks a Settling Tank Man, Sugar is expected to perform include:
Attending to the settling tanks to separate the sugar cane juice/syrup from the mud and other sediments
Receiving the juice/syrup from the eliminators into the settling tank
Administering the juice/syrup to remain in the tank for a specified period, to let the mud and other sediments settle down at the bottom
Opening the valve to allow the clear juice/syrup to flow out for further processing
Removing the muddy juice/syrup for further filtering
Cleaning and washing the tanks assisted by operatives
Skilled in filtering and sedimentation techniques
Knowledge of the functioning of the eliminator tank and settling tank
Basic knowledge of operating valves
Skilled in keeping the tank and its surroundings clean
Basic knowledge of the entire process of sugar manufacturing
