The tasks a Flake Miller, Wheat and Oats (Grain-Feed Mills) is expected to perform include:

Operating the drier, huller, separator, steel cutter, cooker and flake roller machines to produce wheat and oats flakes, according to specifications

Adjusting the slides in chutes and turning the valves to regulate the flow of grains into the machines

Adjusting the flow of air to dry the grains and feeling the grains to determine the hulling capability

Observing the hulling process and adjusting the speed of machines that remove and separate the hulls from the oats

Turning the valves to regulate the temperature and moisture in the cooker

Adjusting the tension on the flaking-machine rolls, according to the hardness and size of the grains

Knowledge of basic milling techniques

Ability to handle the machines according to the desired specifications of the product

Knowledge of traditional and modern methods to remove hulls from oats

Skilled in regulating the flow of grains into the machine

Skilled in basic repair work of the machine
