Material and Freight Handling In-Charge

Minimum Any graduate degree

Preferably minimum 2-7 years of experience required

The tasks a Supervisor and Foreman, Material and Freight Handling is expected to perform include:

Supervising slinging, rigging and handling of material and freight for loading, unloading or placing them as required

Examining material or freight to be handled for size, approximate weight, appropriate position for balanced slinging, etc., and determining safe and best method of

handling them without damaging

Directing and co-ordinating operations of slingers, cable splicers, riggers, cranes and hoist operators, etc., in slinging, raising, moving, lowering, loading, unloading,

placing and other activities

Ensuring safe load and necessary precautions according to type of material or freight handled

Taking special precautions while handling fragile, inflammable and explosive materials to avoid breakage and accidents

Applying emergency measures, where necessary, and ensuring safety of workers around

Maintaining record of material handled

Skilled in adopting the best possible way to load, unload and perform other operations on cargo

Ability to guide the workers in doing their work safely

Knowledge of the different types of materials to be handled and taking necessary precautions accordingly

Skilled in maintaining records and fulfilling all the formalities of the material handled
