Textiles and Handloom Industry in India
The Indian Brand Equity Foundation in their report on the Handloom industry of India have stated that the Indian handloom industry demonstrates the richness and diversity of Indian culture. Along with this fact the sector employs about 4.3 million people and this makes it the second-largest employment provider for the rural population in India after agriculture.
When it comes to the efforts by the government, The Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC), a statutory body has been constituted under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It aims to promote the export of all handloom products like fabrics, home furnishings, carpets and floor coverings, etc. With all these figures in consideration, it is safe to say that the demand for a Jobber (Textile) is there in the present and will surely increase in the coming years.
