Certified training for Bottom Polisher (programme aligned to G&J/Q 4707 released by the Gem & Jewellery Skills Council of India)

A minimum of 6 months of work experience/on-the-job training

The task a Bottom Polisher is expected to perform include: Creating the bottom facets on a diamond

Dexterity of the hands

Good eyesight

Basic knowledge of the diamond polishing procedure

Basic knowledge of the physical characteristics of a diamond

Basic understanding of the machinery involved and its repair work

Ability to convert the facets (cut) given on paper to actual diamond

Good understanding of proportions/symmetry

Working hours

Most companies usually work for 6 days a week and 8 hours every day. This may vary from company to company. Shift system may be available in some organizations.Is the job suitable for a candidate with special needs?Yes

This job is not considered hazardous or dangerous.One may develop occupational hazard like strained eyesight, artisan may incur minor burns, neck and arm pain etc. if not taken care of.

For freshers - 8,000 per month

For candidates with 1/2 yearsexperience - 10,000 to 12,000 per month

For candidates with over 2 yearsexperience 20,000 to 25,000 per month

This means there will be in an increase in the demand for Bottom Polisher.
