The tasks a Gemstone Driller is expected to perform include:

Making holes through the gemstones for threading

Dexterity of hands

Good eyesight

Understanding the drilling requirement as per shape, finishing and plan of the gemstone

Understanding the permitted level of stone loss

Matching the stone type, weight and number as required

Ability to match the piece to the design on paper

Knowledge of any specific stone handling requirement
