Minimum six months' relevant experience

The tasks a Rough Marker is expected to perform includes:

Marking assorted roughs to provide a direction for further processing

Dexterity of the hands

Good eyesight

Knowledge of correctly making the different markings and labelling them

Knowledge of the workflow in diamond processing

Knowledge of different processes like windowing, rough cutting, polishing etc.

Ability to understand the 4Cs of diamonds and types of diamond inclusions

Knowledge of diamond roughs and their properties

Knowledge of using tools and machines

Knowledge of identification and broad classification of rough stones

Knowledge of grading stones and classifying them into groups

Ability to understand valuation as per market practice

Knowledge of rough diamond shading

Knowledge of the use and maintenance of tools and machines used in the assorting process

Working hours

The market size of the industry is expected to rise by leaps and bounds by 2020 considering India is the global leader in the diamond processing industry. Diamonds cut and polished in India are of world-class quality. 11 out of 12 diamonds set in jewellery globally are cut and polished in India. This means there will be an increase in the demand for Rough Marker.
