Certified training for Gemstone Thread Maker (programme aligned to G&J/Q 6909 released by the Gem & Jewellery Skills Council of India)

Minimum 6 monthsof work experience/on-the-job training

The task a Gemstone Thread Maker is expected to perform includes: Threading several beads or cabochons or faceted stones into a jewellery piece as per design

Knowledge of the different types of stones such as precious, semi-precious, synthetic and their shapes and sizes

Understanding of jewellery design for threading in terms of shape, size, type of product, number of layers of thread and type of thread to be used

Ability to minimize stone loss

Ability to select the type of thread to be used such as plastic or metal wire

Ability to thread gemstones onto the plastic or metal wire

Knowledge of specific stone handling requirements
