The tasks a Filer and Assembler is expected to perform include: Removing sprues from the cast jewellery piece and rectifying casting defects
Knowledge of different types of abrasives for filing
Knowledge of different types of casting defects such as porosity, blisters, bubbles, cracks, etc. Knowledge of various jewellery grinding, filing and assembling processes
Knowledge of required quality standards Understanding of potential work hazards, particularly, when using soldering torch, tumbler hand and machine tools
Ability to use different types of tools for different end results
Ability to achieve finish as per design requirement with minimum precious metal, diamond and stone loss
Ability to match design to piece
Ability to assemble different parts of jewellery piece with required flexibility and durability
