Minimum Preferably diploma

Certified training for Field Technician Networking and Storage (programme aligned to ELE/Q4606 released by Electronics Sector Skills Council of India)

2 years as Field Technician (Computing and Peripherals)

The tasks a Field Technician (Networking and Storage) is expected to perform include:Attending customer complaints Installing newly purchased products

Troubleshooting system problems

Configuring hardware equipment such as servers and storage

Well-versed with company?s products and recurring problems reported

Familiarity on how to communicate with customers in order to put them at ease

Knowledge of basic electrical and electronics of system hardware

Familiar with hardware maintenance

Adept in functions of electrical and mechanical parts or modules of the equipment

Knowledge on precautions to be taken while handling field calls and dealing with customers

Familiar with behavioural aspects and etiquette to be followed at customer?s premises

Well versed with behavioural aspects and etiquette to be followed at customer?s premises

Certificate - server and storage equipment management

Ability to build interpersonal relationships

Customer centric approach

Safety and hazards orientation

Willingness to travel

Self-motivated

Critical thinking Positive attitude

Efforts Made by the Indian Government in the Field Of Electronics

Over the last couple of decades India has been the epicentre of consumer demand fuelled by a phenomenal GDP growth. While demand increased across all sectors, demand for high technology products, specifically electronic products has registered significant growth and going by current estimates, the demand for electronics hardware in the country is projected to increase from USD 45 billion in 2009 to USD400 billion by 2020. The estimated production will reach USD 104 billion by the year 2020, creating a gap of USD 296 billion in demand and production. This creates a unique opportunity for companies in the ESDM (Electronic System Design & Manufacturing) sector to look at India as their next destination to cater to the domestic Indian demand as well as act as an exports hub.

The Government has initiated several initiatives for the development of electronics sector in the country and has recently approved National Policy on Electronics (NPE). One of the important objectives of the NPE is to achieve a turnover of about USD 400 Billion by 2020 involving investment of about USD 100 Billion and employment to around 28 million by 2020. All of these efforts indicate a rise in demand for job roles such as Field Technicians (Networking and Storage).
