Previous relevant work experience

The tasks a Cable Jointeris expected to perform include: Joining on surface or underground, multi-conductor telegraph or telephone cable consisting of number of various coloured wires Selecting strands of wires to be joined from cable ends according to colour code and removing insulation fromend of wires in cables Slipping separate pieces of copper or lead sleeves with linear slits over ends of cables and bringing ends of naked wires of cables in overlapping contacts according to colour code Twisting overlapping ends of naked wires to join strands and soldering or brazing each strand of wire of one cable with corresponding wire of another cable

Drying joints and wrapping it with insulating material Adjusting sleeves over joint, keeping slits face to face and heating and soldering sleeves together to strengthen and protect the joint made Screwing soldered cable in position in cable junction box by tightening bolts and fusing upper portion of box with pitch or other compound to completely insulate cable against leakage and moisture Testing pairs of wires for electrical continuity and insulation, using testing equipment

Competent in handling wires, cables, cords multi-colour coded cables, etc.

Well-versed in electrical safety measures and fire safety measures

Proficient in solving electrical problems

Knowledge about insulation, wires, electrical chemicals, etc.

Well-versed with electrical circuits

Will be updated

Alertness and attentiveness

Physically fit

Problem solving skills

Ability to read and write (basic)

It is not a desk job

Need not handle a team

Local travelling is a part of this job role

Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

Working hours

Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

Shift system maybe available

Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible
