Certified training for Handset Repair Engineer (Level II) (programme aligned to TEL/Q2201 released by Telecom Sector Skill Council)

Fresher (For Entrepreneur career)Minimum 2 years in handset repair (For Industry career)

The tasks a Handset Repair Engineer (Level II) is expected to perform include: Performing handset repair including hardware and software components

Testing the handset for adequacy post repair

Knowledge of functionality, features and basic working of handsets

Well versed with basic computer skills to be able to run diagnostic tools

Knowledge of handset specific operating system, their versions and user interface

Well-versed in the functionality of hardware components, software applications, screen, andtouchpad

Proficient in functionality of various software jigs

Knowledge of mobile technologies like GSM & CDMA

Adept in default setting of handsets and networks

Proficiency in understanding range of software related problems in handsets and their possible solutions

Knowledge of basic details and features of Windows and Android OS

Adept with formatting and installing the OS

Forfreshers-INR 5,000 to INR 7,500 per month For candidates with 1/2 yearsexperience - INR 10,000 to INR 12,000 per month For candidates with over 2 yearsexperience - INR 15,000 to INR 20,000 per month(These figures are indicative and subject to change)

Current and Future Trends of Mobile

India is now the quickest-expanding smartphone market globally and the third-largest market after China and the United States, according to Britain-based consultancy Canalys. According to a report by the research firm International Data Corporation, the Indian smartphone market grew 82% from 2014 and 27% over the preceding quarter.

The falling cost of handsets, coupled with improved usability and increasing network coverage, are factors that are making mobile technology a global phenomenon that will soon be available to the vast majority of the world?s population, regardless of age or location.

In India, the total number of mobile phone subscribers have reached 930.20 million as of September 2014. The mobile tele-density had increased to 74.55% in September 2014. In the wireless segment, 5.88 million subscribers were added in September 2014.

A report by Swedish mobile network equipment maker Ericsson By 2020, 90% of the world population over 6 years old will have a mobile phone, with number of smartphones reaching 6.1 billion. With positive consumer sentiments and low levels of inflation, consumers will have more money to spend. Majority of the smartphone users change their phones within 12 to 24 months.

With increasing number of users and gadgets per household in India, there will be huge demand for Handset Repair Engineers/Technicians across the nation.
