The tasks a Smartphones Repair Technician is expected to perform include:Diagnosing problems and repairing the faulty module of the smartphone

Performing front end and hardware level repair as required Resolving software issues and ensuring effective functioning of phone

Knowledge of basic electronics involved in the hardware

Well-versed with various model of smartphone

Knowledge of various smartphone and their model specification

Proficient with procedures of replacing accessories such as battery, SD card

Knowledge of company?s ERP system and operational procedure

Well-versed with service level agreement with the brand on parameters such as turnaround time (TAT), repair procedure, warranty

Knowledge of different types of soldering techniques such as surface mount, through hole, etc.Well-versedwithhandlingprocedureofdisplaysysteminsmartphone(LCDand

LED)Proficient in using tools such as electric screwdrivers, multimeter, soldering station, hot air blower, BGA workstation, etc.Well-versed estimating cost of repair and verify Beyond Economic Repair (BER) value

Current and Future Trends of Mobile Handsets

India is now the quickest-expanding smartphone market globally and the third-largest market after China and the United States, according to Britain-based consultancy Canalys. According to a report by the research firm International Data Corporation, the Indian smartphone market grew 82% from 2014 and 27% over the preceding quarter.

The falling cost of handsets, coupled with improved usability and increasing network coverage, are factors that are making mobile technology a global phenomenon that will soon be available to the vast majority of the world?s population, regardless of age or location.

In India, the total numbers of mobile phone subscribers have reached 930.20 million as of September 2014. The mobile tele-density had increased to 74.55% in September 2014. In the wireless segment, 5.88 million subscribers were added in September 2014.

A report by Swedish mobile network equipment maker Ericsson by 2020, 90% of the world population over 6 years old will have a mobile phone, with number of smartphones reaching 6.1 billion. With positive consumer sentiments and low levels of inflation, consumers will have more money to spend. Majority of the smartphone users change their phones within 12 to 24 months.

With increasing number of users and gadgets per household in India, there will be huge demand for Handset Repair Engineers/Technicians across the nation.
