The tasks a Test and Repair Technician is expected to perform include:
Rectifying the faults in the faulty module in the IT hardware equipment
Diagnosing the problem
Deciding on the correct action to be taken
Reworking and repairing the faulty module
Ensuring effective functioning of the hardware as per requirement
Knowledge of basic electronics involved in the hardware
Knowledge of different types of IT hardware and functionalities
Well-versed with the functions of electrical and mechanical parts/modules
Well-versed with the voltage and power requirement for different hardware devices
Knowledge of test electronic components such as diodes, transistors with reference to circuit diagram
Knowledge of basic electronic repairing and reworking such as desoldering, soldering, removal and fixing components
Proficiency in operating the system and other hardware peripherals
Adept at estimating cost of repair
Proficiency in use of tools such as electric screwdrivers, multimetre, soldering station, oscilloscope, hot air blower, BGA workstation
Adept at checking and testing various electronic components and their functionality
Well-versed with the documentation process of spares movements and the action performed
