Preferably 1-2 years of work experience in stitching or sampling division of any apparel manufacturing company
The tasks a Sampling Tailor is expected to perform include: Developing garment sample as per buyer?s specifications
Performing fabric cutting operations
Stitching garments of different designs
Taking customers? measurement Recording measurement
Determining type of material and garment style
Pressing garments using hand irons or pressing machines
Master the use of sewing machine
Analyse and interpret a tech pack and a garment specification sheet
Understand fabric worksheet, style confirmation sheet, fabric consumption request, study consumption chart, Fabric Requirement sheet (FRS) and trims requirement sheet
Understand rules of pattern making, layout and fabric estimation
Identify and practice basic and decorative stitches
Knowledge of darts, pleats, gathers and other technical aspects
Detailed knowledge of surface decoration using embroidery, laces, buttons, beads, sequins etc.Knowledge of how to take body measurements systematically and follow necessary precautions
Knowledge to use treadle
Knowledge of typical faults of stitching machines and rectification methods
Good eyesight
Eye-hand-leg co-ordination
