The tasks a Hat Maker, General is expected to perform include: Making various kinds of hats by marking, cutting and sewing

Joining components and finishing them by trimming and decorating

Preparing own designs or copying and adapting existing designs

Marking and cutting materials according to pattern or own judgement

Smoothing, wiring and shaping hat parts and sewing them together

Adding trimmings and decorating hat as required

Making and altering hats to individual requirements

Knowledge of hat-making techniques

Knowledge of hat designs

Well versed with design and sketching

Competent with cutting, sewing and measuring skills

Knowledge of how to use and care for equipment

Working hours

Hat manufacturers usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company Shift system maybe available

Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible
