The tasks a Dress Maker is expected to perform include:

Stitching together parts of women's garments

Stitching together parts by hand and/or machine

Inserting inner lining material

Undertaking embroidery work, button-hole making, etc.

Attaching lining, lace, buttons, etc.

Carrying out alteration as directed

Pressing garments and

supervising work of hand sewers

Well-versed with different types of patterns and designs for females

Understanding of dress design and construction

Efficient inremoving stitches from garments to be altered, using rippers or razor blades

Ability to estimate garment cost

Well-versed with taking measurements for different patterns

Proficiency in operating sewing machine

Knowledge of sewing techniques

Well-versed with cutting and trimming of garments

Basic knowledge of latest trends in dress designs

Working hours are for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

Shift system maybe available

Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible
