The tasks a Goods Supervisor, Railway is expected to perform include:

Supervising receipt, storage, despatch and delivery of goods, parcels, freights, etc. by rail

Regulating booking of materials for despatch according to availability of wagons and ensuring their easy flow as per priority lists

Inspecting goods booked for proper packing and checking contents with sender's declaration

Checking adequacy of storage facilities for goods received

Directing loading of goods in wagons as instructed by Traffic Controller on basis of availability of clearance at other stations

Allotting platforms for loading and unloading of goods to ensure speedy movement of wagons and minimising delays

Ensuring compliance with necessary precautionary measures for loading and unloading explosives, inflammable, and like materials

Arranging for delivery of goods to consignee against authorisations

Examining complaints and reporting cases of thefts, shortages, losses, etc. to higher authorities for investigation

Proficient in supervising receipt, storage, despatch and delivery of goods, parcels, freights, etc. by rail

Knowledge of precautionary measures for loading and unloading explosives, inflammable, and like materials

Proficient in scheduling loading and unloading of goods

Well-versed in allotting platforms for loading and unloading of goods

Proficient in examining complaints and reporting cases of thefts, shortages, losses, etc. to higher authorities for investigation

Knowledge of issuing receipts for goods received and payments made

Knowledge of conducting loading and unloading operations himself
