Level 6 (programme aligned to ASC/Q6105 released by Automotive Skills Development Council)

ASDC Level 4 certificate holders require 1 year of minimum experience

Minimum 7-8 years experience in a purchase/materials department

The tasks a Material Coordination Manager Level 6 is expected to perform include:

Co-ordinating with the central planning department for working out the material requirement plan

Co-ordinating and expediting the procurement of materials and parts

Co-ordinating the flow of materials between different departments for smooth transaction of business

Maintaining a material schedule according to sourcing locations, processing times, etc.

Receiving delivery schedules from vendors

Tracking the material shipment status from each vendor

Resolving in-transit issues like custom clearance, etc.

Arranging for materials? unloading in the plant

Inspecting the received materials for damages

Storing the material received at designated locations

Issuing the material based on shop floor requirements

Checking and tallying the physical inventory v/s system inventory

Knowledge of the manufacturing process and time/schedule being followed for each product

Familiarity with vendor capacity, capability, cost structures, delivery time and reliability factors

Knowledge of raw materials being used for the manufacturing of each product

Basic knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of each material

Familiarity with the storage conditions required for each material

Knowledge of packing and transportation methods for each material

Basic knowledge of the information flow for material requisition, tracking and dispatch

Familiarity with information systems like SAP, ERP, etc.

Knowledge of the procedures involved in the import/export of materials

Knowledge of 5S procedures

Training in:

Information flow systems/ERP like SAP depending on theirapplicability in theorganization

Exim procedures

Key technical processes for items in the organization, APQP

Good communication skills

Co-ordinating skills

Independent worker

Result-oriented

Analytical bend of mind
