The tasks a Field Technician - Digital Camera is expected to perform include:
Interacting with customers
Diagnosing the problem
Assessing the possible causes of malfunction
Rectifying minor problems
Replacing faulty modules for failed parts
Well-versed with company?s products and recurring problems reported in consumer appliances
Knowledge of how to communicate with customers in order to put them at ease
Proficient in basic electrical and mechanical modules of various appliances
Familiar with electronics involved in the type of appliance
Adept in models of different appliances and their common and distinguishing features
Knowledge of functionality of different features of appliances and new features
Equipped with etiquette to be followed at customerspremises
Well-versed with precautions to be taken while handling field calls and dealing with customers
Familiar with relevant reference sheets, manuals and documents to carry in the field

Current and Future Trends of Consumer Electronics in India
According to the Human Resource and Skill Requirements in the Electronics and Hardware Sector (2022) report by the National Skill Development Corporation, the Indian Electronics and IT Hardware sector production is expected to grow from 1,636 billion in 2012 to 7,521 billion in 2022 at a CAGR of 16.4%.
Consumer Electronics has traditionally been the largest segment, Computers and Telecommunication Equipment have increased their share in the industry in recent times. Out of the total resources employed in Electronics and IT Hardware Industry, 24% of resources are hired by various functions of Consumer Electronics.
Digital cameras represent one of the most popular product of consumer electronics products market and it has benefited immensely from digitisation of consumer electronics products. Technological advancements like introduction of touch screen technology and HD quality in cameras is also contributing to the rise in sales of compact digital cameras.
The production in the Consumer Electronics segment is expected to grow from 399 billion in 2012 to 1,474 billion in 2022. This would translate to the overall employment in Consumer Electronics function of 2,98,000 in 2012 to 6,86,000 by 2022. The report also highlights the requirement of service support and foresees the human resource requirement in the support staff function would be of 67,000 by 2022. This will have an increase demand for all the professionals who are classified under the Support staff function of Consumer Electronics.
