Minimum Preferably 8th standard pass

Certified training for Field Technician Refrigerator (programme aligned to ELE/Q3101 released by Electronics Sector Skills Council of India)

Minimum 2 years as helper for 8th/9th pass

The tasks a Field Technician - Refrigerator is expected to perform include:

Installing the refrigerator

Diagnosing the problem and cause for a malfunction

Rectifying minor problems

Replacing faulty modules for failed parts

Recommending factory repairs for bigger faults

Knowledge of company?s products and recurring problems reported in consumer appliances

Well-versed on how to communicate with customers in order to put them at ease

Proficient in basic electrical and mechanical modules of various appliances

Familiar with electronics involved in the type of appliance

Adept in validating the plan for shifting of resources and implementing the layout

Knowledge of models of different appliances and their common and distinguishing features

Familiar with the etiquette to be followed at customerspremises

Refrigerator market in India is one of the fastest growing segments of the consumer durable industry. The utility and the need of a refrigerator is felt 365 days in a year, and hence has become an indispensable item of every household. Moreover, due to the hot and humid weather conditions in the country, the necessity of the product has increased manifolds.

According to ?Refrigerator Market Forecast to 2015?, a recent report by RNCOS, the refrigerator market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 25.7% during 2012-2015. The efforts of players to offer affordable and eco-friendly variants and strategies to penetrate into smaller towns are acting as a driving force for the industry. Further, rising per capita income, increasing role of the government to support FDI in India and easy availability of financing will also drive the industry. According to a study conducted by market research firm GfK, Indians have spent $1.8 billion or 11,060 crores to buy refrigerators in 2014.

The production in the Consumer Electronics segment is expected to grow from 399 billion in 2012 to 1,474 billion in 2022. This would translate to the overall employment in Consumer Electronics function of 2,98,000 in 2012 to 6,86,000 by 2022. The report also highlights the requirement of service support and foresees the human resource requirement in the support staff function would be of 67,000 by 2022. This will have an increase demand for all the professionals who are classified under the support staff function of Consumer Electronics.
