Power Backup Market in India 2014

UPS/ Inverter segment has witnessed a consistent rise in demand owing to the rapid development of the IT sector along with growing consciousness among individuals to protect costly electronic equipment which can be adversely affected by sudden power failures. The demand-supply gap in power distribution is the main reason for the boom in the power backup market. With time, consumers have emerged to be less tolerant about the duration of power cuts, thus providing tremendous growth prospects, which players can capitalise upon, thereby resulting in growing employment opportunities as UPS/Inverter engineers and technicians.

Projected Size and Future of UPS Industry in India

According to an IMS Research Report, the overall Indian UPS market is estimated at $630 million in 2013, expected to grow by 6.3 percent in 2014 and projected to reach $834 million by 2016. The figure illustrates the growing demand of UPS in India, and thus a bright future for UPS companies. Government of India does not have sufficient power grids to meet our domestic and industrial usage. Because of which, people have to opt for power back-up equipment like UPS and Inverters. Increasing power cuts and expensive power supplies are not affordable to a major segment of industries and domestic consumers. Thus the trend towards UPS and Inverters are increasing. This will have an increase in demand for professionals who are classified under this sector, one of them would be UPS and Invertor Field Technician.
