Certified training for Field Technician: Other Home Appliances (programme aligned to ELE/Q3104 released by Electronics Sector Skills Council of India)

Minimum 2 years as helper for 8th/9th pass

The tasks a Field Technician: Other Home Appliances is expected to perform include:

Installing the newly purchased appliance

Diagnosing the problem for a malfunction

Assessing possible causes

Rectifying minor problems

Replacing faulty modules for failed parts

Recommending factory repairs for bigger faults

Knowledge of company?s products and recurring problems reported in consumer appliances

Well-versed on how to communicate with customers in order to put them at ease

Proficient in basic electrical and mechanical modules of various appliances

Familiar with models of different appliances and their common and distinguishing features

Adept in precautions to be taken while handling field calls and dealing with customers

Familiar with the etiquette to be followed at customerspremises

Knowledge of functionality of different features of appliances and new features

For freshers - INR 7,000 to INR 9,000 per month For candidates with 1/2 yearsexperience - INR 9,000 to INR 11,000 per monthFor candidates with over 2 yearsexperience INR 11,000 to INR 15,000 per month (These figures are indicative and subject to change)

Current and Future Trends of Consumer Electronics in IndiaAccording to the Human Resource and Skill Requirements in the Electronics and Hardware Sector (2022) report by the National Skill Development Corporation, the Indian Electronics and IT Hardware sector production is expected to grow from 1,636 billion in 2012 to 7,521 billion in 2022 at a CAGR of 16.4%.Consumer Electronics has traditionally been the largest segment, Computers and Telecommunication Equipment have increased their share in the industry in recent times. Out of the total resources employed in Electronics and IT Hardware Industry, 24% of resources are hired by various functions of Consumer Electronics.The production in the Consumer Electronics segment is expected to grow from 399 billion in 2012 to 1,474 billion in 2022. The sales and service support functions are expected to generate an incremental employment of 1.2 million persons till 2022. This would be due to a large nation-wide footprint of tier-2 and tier-3 industry participants (dealers, franchisees, service agencies, etc.). This ?ecosystemwould contribute to a large portion of the human resource requirement.
