Minimum Preferably 8th standard pass

Certified training for Field Technician Washing Machine (programme aligned to ELE/Q3103 released by Electronics Sector Skills Council of India)

Minimum 2 years as helper for 8th / 9th pass

The tasks a Field Technician Washing Machine is expected to perform include:

Installing washing machines

Interacting with customers to diagnose problems

Assessing possible faults reported

Rectifying minor problems

Replacing faulty modules for failed parts

Recommending factory repairs for bigger faults

Proficiency in understanding company?s products and in analysing recurring problems reported

Adept in validating basic electrical and mechanical modules of various appliances

Knowledge of electronics involved in the type of appliance

Knowledge of models of different appliances and their common and distinguishing features

Well-versed with etiquette to be followed at customerspremises

Well-versed the functionality of different features of appliances

Adept in precautions to be taken while handling field calls and dealing with customers

Proficiency with functionality of different features of appliances and new features

Current and Future Trends for Washing Machine Segment in India

Washing machines are the second largest contributor to the consumer appliances market (after refrigerators); in FY 2013 total sales was around 7.5 million units. Fully automatic washing machines are garnering an increasing share of the market due to reduction in prices and higher disposable incomes.Domestic demand of electronics in India is expected to reach USD 400 Billion by 2020.

According to the Human Resource and Skill Requirements in the Electronics and Hardware Sector (2022) report by the National Skill Development Corporation, the Indian Electronics and IT Hardware sector production is expected to grow from 1,636 billion in 2012 to 7,521 billion in 2022 at a CAGR of 16.4%. Out of the total resources employed in Electronics and IT Hardware Industry, 24% of resources are hired by various functions of Consumer Electronics.

The production in the Consumer Electronics segment is expected to grow from 399 billion in 2012 to 1,474 billion in 2022. This would translate to the overall employment in Consumer Electronics function of 2,98,000 in 2012 to 6,86,000 by 2022. The report also highlights the requirement of service support and foresees the human resource requirement in the support staff function would be of 67,000 by 2022. This will have an increase demand for all the professionals who are classified under the Support Staff function of Consumer Electronics.
