The tasks a Helper Mason Level-1 is expected to perform include: Identifying and using basic tools, equipment and materials
Handling and storing material
Preparing cement mortar and concrete mix
Using different types of bonds in basic brickworks
Erecting and dismantling 3.6 metre temporary scaffoldings
Cutting, filling, levelling and compaction of earth
Performing tasks under health, safety and environmental regulations
Knowledge of storing, handling, upkeep, maintenance, checking and inspection of tools and materials
Knowledge of receiving and handing over tools, material and consumables from the store
Knowledge of the precautions and safety required in handling, storing and transporting tools and materials
Knowledge of loading, unloading, handling and stacking hazardous/non-hazardous material as per their height, their physical properties, size and shape
Working knowledge of preparing mortar, the materials used, types of mortar and admixtures, ratio of materials and water cement ratio
Working knowledge of different types of concrete mixtures, rectifying patchwork/honeycomb for fresh concrete element, different types of curing methods and their duration
Knowledge of different types and quality of bricks and their arrangement in bonds
Knowledge and understanding of types of bonds and closures, vertical/horizontal joints and the required thickness and proportion of mortar, pointing, jointing and racking
Expertise in the tools, equipment and process for erecting and dismantling 3.6 metre scaffolds
Knowledge of the names and use of tools, tackles, excavation equipment and methods of cutting and filling
Sound knowledge of accident, health, safety and evacuation procedures and their reporting

Training for 8 to 12 weeks so as to qualify for the tests and certification by authorised agency for knowledge and skills as per NOS level-1
