The tasks a Junior Functioner (Telephone Equipment Manufacturing) is expected to perform include:

Performing the operational tests of repetitive nature on the assembled telephonic apparatus

Getting all the defects removed and ensuring operational efficiency

Mounting the apparatus such as automatic switching apparatus

Ensuring that there is step by step handling of telephone switches, relay sets, group selector, final selector, uni selector, racks, etc.

Making sure that standard test unit is maintained

Operating the testing apparatus and observering the readings

Noting the faults and detecting the defections by readings all the observations made for repairs, particularly with reference to circuit diagrams

Maintaining the functioning instruction sheet of each apparatus

Testing the apparatus again after rectification of faults

Handing over the certificated, tested and checked apparatus for operational efficiency

Conducting minor repairs of standard testing

Skilled in assembled telephonic apparatus

Ability to get all the defects removed

Knowledge of automatic switching apparatus

Ability to maintain the standard test unit

Skilled in having the apparatus tested again after rectification of all the faults

Proficient in checking the apparatus for operational efficiency

Conducting minor repairs of standard testing
