The tasks a Loco Cleaner is expected to perform include:

Cleaning loco engines and performs allied tasks in loco-shed

Cleaning engine and its parts using waste cotton and kerosene oil

Applying white chalk or lime stone solution on cleaned parts and striking with hammer to check cracks, if any

Moving engine backward or forward with help of crow-bars and turning it by pushing it on mechanical device when required

Lighting up firebox, shovelling coke in it

Dropping fire by shaking handle of fire-grate or operating lever in engine and performing other tasks as guided

Proficient in cleaning engine and its parts using waste cotton

Knowledge of moving engine backward or forward with help of crow-bars

Proficient in lighting up firebox, shovelling coke in it

Knowledge of oiling and lubricating engine parts

Knowledge of dropping fire from firebox of engine after completion of journey

Good physical health
