The tasks a Mechanic, Repairman, Domestic Appliances is expected to perform include:

Servicing and repairing all types of small machinery and mechanical appliances, generally in domestic use, by replacement and repairs of worn or damaged parts to ensure correct performance

Examining small machines and appliances such as heaters, geysers, coffee grinders, gramophones, pressure cookers, stoves, etc. to ascertain nature and location of

defects

Dismantling equipment partly or completely to remove or replace damaged or worn out parts

Repairing defective parts by setting washers, filing, soldering, riveting, etc. or obtaining replacements

Assembling parts to make complete unit ensuring accuracy of fit by supplementary tooling, as necessary

Testing re-assembled equipment and adjusting nuts, screws, etc. as necessary to ensure its correct performance

Fitting assembly frames or structures, installing appliances in premises and giving power or water connections

Checking, cleaning, adjusting and servicing equipment periodically to maintain them in working order

Knowledge of the integrated circuits (ICs) installed in home appliances

Skilled in repairing and servicing small machinery and mechanical home appliances

Ability to locate the defects in an appliance and repair it

Ability to keep the tools required at hand all the time

Skilled in dismantling and re-assembling the appliance after repairing

Knowledge of testing the appliance once it is repaired

Knowledge of all the safety measures that need to be followed

Ability to determine whether to refurbish, repair or replace worn and defective parts

Knowledge of designs, models and maintenance
