The tasks a

Mechanic, Mining Machinery is expected to perform include:

Repairing services and overhauling drilling,scraping, cutting, winding, hoisting and othermining machinery for correct performance

Getting defective machine or equipment removedfrom surface or underground working place torepair section, using slippers, roller, hoists, etc.as necessary

Examining faulty equipment toascertain nature and location of defects

Dismantling equipment partly or completely to remove damaged and worn out parts

Repairingparts by various mechanical processes such asre-metalling, filing, chipping, scrapping,grinding, etc.

Assembling parts, doing supplementary toolingas necessary and ensuring correct fit,movement, clearance, adjustments, functional operations, etc. as specified

Testing reassembledequipment making necessary adjustments foroptimum performance

Checking, adjusting and lubricating equipment periodically and performing other tasks to keepequipment in good working order

Undertaking minor repairs at working place.

Welding, brazing or soldering parts

Competentin dismantling engines, using hand tools, and examining parts for defects

Ability to reassemble engines after repair or maintenance work is complete

Knowledgeable about performing routine maintenance such as cleaning and oiling parts, honing cylinders, and tuning ignition systems

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
