The tasks a Columnist is expected to perform include:

Reviewing events, developments, etc. of public interest

Writing or editing copy for a regular column in a newspaper

Delivering a unique and interesting column in order to keep readers hooked

Researching and investigating local, national, and international events

Ability to work within strict deadlines

Proficient in researching recent events within chosen specialty

Familiar with interviewing people of interest pertaining to their article

Proficiency in performing fact-checking

Well-versed with composing article that is enjoyable and complies with journalism ethics and laws

Familiar with composing articles which are captivating and appealing to a large group of people

Ability to conduct taped or filmed interviews or narratives

Proficient in transmitting news stories or reporting information from remote locations, using equipment such as satellite phones, telephones, fax machines or modems

Familiar with editing videos for broadcast
