Minimum Preferably Diploma Certified training for LED Light Design Engineer (programme aligned to ELE/Q9101 released by Electronics Sector Skills Council of India)

1 year experience in product designing based on LED Technology

The tasks an LED Light Design Engineer is expected to perform include: Conceptualising and designing LED product

Conducting research

Designing and developing LED driver and light engine system

Creating final LED product prototype for production

Estimating efficiencies of optical, thermal and electrical systems

Knowledge of latest LED technology

Well-versed with technical fundamentals in lighting industry Knowledge about programmable logic, embedded software, SMPS design and mechanical design

Well-versed with basics of power electronics and its usages in lighting controls or LED power supplies and LED drivers

Proficient in using integration spheres, photo-spectrometer, colorimeter, lux meter, standard bulbs, calibration and measuring equipment

Knowledge about regulatory, statutory and quality standards related to LED industry in India

Knowledge of IPC standards and PCB layout design

Well-versed with LED light production process and technologies

Knowledge of 5s standards

LED Focus Area

Showrooms that were using Incandescent Lamps have changed to CFL down lights due to government regulations. CFL is not effective on product display, therefore proposals have been made to initiate central and state governments for regulation to commercial outlets to change to

LED down lights. Indian Government (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) has taken an initiative to provide LED streetlights to more than 100 municipalities as per its latest program. As an introduction for domestic application, attention has been provided for self-ballasted LED Lamps. Prices have reduced from 1200 last year to 650. They are more likely to further reduce to 300 to 400 by the end of this year.
