The tasks an Electrical Engineer, General is expected to perform include:

Planning, designing and supervising manufacture of various electrical machinery and equipment

Overseeing the installation, testing, operation and maintenance of various electrical wiring, circuits, electrical components, etc.

Planning layout of work and equipment

Directing preparation of sketches, detailed drawings and writing diagrams

Specifying the method in which construction material is to be used

Preparing or checking estimates of cost of material and labour

Supervising construction and installation or erection work

Providing necessary technical advice at every stage of progress

Inspecting completed work to ensure efficient operation

Following the prescribed specifications and safety standards

Maintaining and repairing necessary electrical apparatus and equipment

Ability to produce and interpret technical diagrams

Knowledge of installation and testing electrical systems

Aware of various construction methodologies

Familiar with standard codes for construction and electrical activity, prescribed by the government and otherwise

Knowledge of material requirement and cost estimation techniques

Knowledge of testing and maintaining equipment
