It is particularly important in ensuring employment for a large and growing working age population. Manufacturing, which is currently 15% of the GDP, needs to become 2-3% higher than the GDP, in order to make a significant contribution to our economy in terms of employment generation.

The Government of India has announced a national manufacturing policy with the objective of enhancing the share of manufacturing in GDP by 25% within a decade, thereby creating 100 million jobs. It seeks to empower the rural youth by imparting all the necessary skill sets to make them employed. So, this sector will have a lot of demand for a Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance in the present as well as in the future.
