Minimum Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry

Preferably minimum 6 months of internship required

The tasks a Veterinarian, Poultry is expected to perform include:

Advising individual poultry raisers on poultry health problems

Gathering information on care, condition, performance and action of birds form the poultry farm owners

Inspecting flocks, pens and housing

Diagnosing poultry diseases and prescribing treatment

Culling undesirable birds from flock

Suggesting feed changes to increase egg production or growth of fowls

Knowledge of breeding and hatching techniques

Skilled in diagnosing and curing common poultry diseases

Skilled in examining undesirable birds which are to be culled

Knowledge of communicable diseases in poultry farms

Knowledge of local laws regarding animal rights

Skilled in taking appropriate action in case of an epidemic
