Overview of Healthcare Sector in India

According to IBEF, the Indian healthcare industry is growing at a tremendous pace due to its strengthening coverage, services and increasing expenditure by public as well private players. The Indian Healthcare sector grew from US$ 45 billion in 2008 to US$ 81 billion in 2014, and is projected to continue its rapid expansion, with an estimated market value of US$ 280 billion by 2020. This, along with the increasing awareness and spending capacity of the Indian middle class, is giving the healthcare and medical sector a great boost.

Indian zoos are becoming more and more advanced these days. Earlier, the zoos were neglected, animal health was not a top priority, and not much investment was made in this regard. But now, owing to some solid steps by the government and other animal care and protection bodies, the quality and standards of zoos has improved in India. Permanent Zoo Veterinarians are appointed at most zoos to ensure that adequate care is provided to all animals. There are some upcoming zoos in India too, and this indicates a potential growth in employment opportunities for Zoo Veterinarians in the future.
