Musical Instrument Technician

The tasks a Musical Instrument Repairer is expected to perform include:

Repairing all kinds of musical instruments such as violin, veena, tambura, sitar, harmonium,

guitar, mandolin, piano, and tuning them

Testing the particular instrument to find the nature of defect, dismantling the instrument and examining parts for defects or damage

Repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts using hand tools, refitting parts together to construct the instrument

Setting the repaired instrument for correct performance

Tuning instruments by playing them and adjusting the keys, strings, etc.

Proficient in repairing all kinds of musical instruments

Competent to play instruments to test for tonal defects and check repairs

Well-versed with tuning instruments to make sure they produce high-quality sound

Dexterity of hands

Knowledge of polishing with colour stain or varnish to for a good finish

Ability to make new parts to replace damaged ones using hand tools

Attention to detail

Interest in music

Ability to work independently

Diligent and hardworking

Ability to focus for long hours

It requires one to be on their feet

Need not handle a team

Local travelling is not a part of this job

Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

Work from home option is not available

Working hours

Musical instrument crafters usually work for 6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from unit to unit

Shift system maybe available

Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, working hours and days are flexible
