The tasks an Organ Tuner is expected to perform include:

Testing and adjusting the organ pipes to produce correct tones

Keeping the playing mechanisms in good condition

Striking the tuning fork and comparing the tone with that of the selected pipe

Adjusting the distance between the lips of the pipe until the tone coincides with that of the tuning fork

Adjusting other pipes, and comparing their tones by ear with that of the pipe already adjusted

Proficient in comparing instrument pitches with tuning tool pitches in order to tune instruments

Knowledge of playing instruments to evaluate their sound quality and locating any further defects

Competent in replacing defective wiring, sintches, blowers and other parts

Dexterity of hands

Working hours

Musical instrument crafters usually work for 6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from unit to unit
