Piano Technician

The tasks a Piano Tuner is expected to perform include:

Testing and adjusting the pianos to produce the correct tone

Striking the tuning fork and comparing the tone with that of the 'A' string of a piano

Tightening or loosening the strings by turning the string pin until the tone coincides with that of the tuning fork

Adjusting other strings and comparing their tones by ear with that of the 'A' string already adjusted

Proficient in repairing and tuning pianos

Well-versed with various parts of the instrument along with their functions

Competent in achieving a proper pitch that is musically correct by adjusting the strings

Dexterity of hands

Ability to replace broken strings and make repairs

Attention to detail

Interest in music

Ability to work independently

Diligent and hardworking

Ability to focus for long hours

It requires one to sit and work

Need not handle a team

Local travelling is not a part of this job

Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

Work from home option is not available

Working hours

Musical instrument crafters usually work for 6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from unit to unit

Shift system maybe available

Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, working hours and days are flexible
