The tasks a Warehouse Packer is expected to perform include: Preparing and performing packing, post-packing activities Carrying out housekeeping and post-housekeeping activities
Receiving and checking packing requirements for all goods that require packing Packing and ensuring all goods are ready for storage
Reporting data/problem/incidents, etc. and carrying out documentation and administrative duties
Knowledge of the types of products and goods being handled Knowledge of pre-packing and packing and material requirements Working knowledge of technology/equipment used for packing goods
Understanding of company codes/labels for storage
Understanding the methods, sequence and materials for cleaning variety of surfaces, equipment and machinery
Understanding the importance of appropriate personal protective equipment for the work area
In-depth knowledge of the procedures for disposing waste, disposing or storing equipment, reporting unidentified soiling, etc.Basic maths skills

Injury while handling sharp and heavy objects, pallet trolleys, etc. may occur while working in a warehouse

For freshers - 5,000 to 10,000 per month
For candidates with upto yearsexperience - 10,000 to 12,500 per month
For candidates with over 2 yearsexperience 12,500 to 30,000 per month

Warehousing Industry in India
The warehousing industry in India is currently valued at INR 745bn (FY 2013) and has been growing at ~15% for the last 3 years. ValueNotes estimates that the industry will grow at a rate of 18% till 2017.
The unorganised sector will continue to dominate, accounting for around 90% of the industry by 2015. Of the organised sector, the industrial segment will constitute a higher share of warehousing demand, viz. engineering, pharmaceutical and electronics goods.
