The tasks a Store Keeper is expected to perform include:

Receiving, storing and issuing various types of goods, tools, equipment, raw materials, etc., and maintaining record of each item

Checking incoming supplies against orders, bills or vouchers, identifying weighs or measures and examining various items to ensure correct supply

Affixing or tying identity slips to items giving code numbers or marks

Entering details of goods received in stock registers

Maintaining bin cards for each item indicating stock in hand

Ensuring proper storing and preservation of goods

Issuing stock on demand making necessary entries in registers and bin cards

Exercising physical check of stores periodically and tallying with stock registers

Rendering to superiors, periodical statements and reports showing position and condition of stocks

Supervising work of subordinates engaged in lifting goods

Skilled in marking goods with the specified code numbers

Skilled in maintaining record of all the goods kept in the store

Skilled in maintaining an inventory movement register

Ability to preserve the goods kept in the store and ensuring its safety

Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management
