No prior experience is required
The tasks a Cutter (Footwear) is expected to perform include: Laying out leather or non-leather material
Marking and cutting the material using cutting dies
Positioning of leather/non-leather material
Ensuring quantity and quality of cut pieces
Proficient in equipment operating procedures
Knowledge of footwear industry
Proficient in methods of cutting like die cutting
Skilled in clicking to ensure maximum usage and minimum wastage
Familiar with implications of using defective tools and machines on the materials
Knowledge of footwear products and styles of footwear like boots, sandals, slippers, etc.
Ability to follow manufacturer?s instructions
Knowledge of material optimization techniques and basic operations on various clicking machines
Good hand-eye co-ordination
Fair judgement in positioning and cutting
Basic estimation and numerical skills
Good problem solving skills
It is a bench work job.
Need not handle a team
Travelling is not part of the job
Part-time work and contractual jobs are available

Working hours
Working is 9/10 hours every day for 5/6 days a week

Fresher - INR1,700 to INR2,500 per month

In 2013-14, India's leather exports recorded a growth rate of 17.81 per cent, reaching US$ 5908.82 million as against the performance of US$ 5015.41 million in the corresponding period of last year.

The Government of India had identified theLeather Sectoras aFocus Sectorin its Foreign Trade Policy 2004-09 in view of its immense potential for export growth prospects and employment generation. Accordingly, the Government is also implementing variousSpecial Focus Initiativesunder the Foreign Trade Policy for the growth of leather sector. With the implementation of various industrial developmental programmes as well as export promotional activities, the Indian Leather Industry aims to augment the production thereby enhancing export, and resultantly create additional employment opportunities for overall one million people.
