Car Demand in India
India?s leading auto majors breathed a sigh of relief in November last year with the passenger car segment finally showing promising signs of recovery. Although the festive season proved to be a dampener, car makers are upbeat about the 10 percent rise in sales and expect the New Year to bring in profits to help the domestic auto industry forget the prolonged slump of the last couple of years.
Vishnu Mathur, Director of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), said,?Sales have grown in November as the overall sentiment has improved due to overall cost of ownership having come down with the lowering of fuel prices and benefits of reduced excise duty continuing.?
He added:?Hopefully, we are on a path to recovery. If you want it deep-rooted, interest rate cut is required so that people sitting on the fence start buying.?
Last year, the car segment had reported a marginal rise in sales from May to August, but sales fell again in September and October.
The companies that gained most were Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda and Toyota and posted 17 percent, 6 percent, 64 percent and 19 percent, respectively.
The potential hike in demand for passenger vehicles promises more job opportunities in the vehicle attending services across the country. This means there will be an increase in job opportunities for QCP Attendants Level 2.
