The tasks a Coin Collector is expected to perform include:

Driving vehicle over the established route to collect money from and refill coin-operated amusement-game machines and vending machines that dispense merchandise

Loading the transport vehicle with supplies according to instructions

Recording the amount of money collected

Turning in money to cashiering department at completion of route and unloading the truck

Reporting malfunctioning of machines to maintenance department for repair

Performing minor repairs or adjustments on machines using hand tools

Promoting installation of new coin operated machines at specified locations

Knowledge of operating vending machine

Proficient in loading transport vehicle with supplies according to instructions

Knowledge of driving motor vehicle

Well-versed with driving vehicle to establishment, collecting coins, refilling machine, cleaning inside of machines that dispense food or beverages

Proficient in reporting malfunctioning machines to maintenance department for repair

Well-versed with performing minor repairs or adjustments on machines, using hand tools, to correct malfunctions

Ability to promote installation of new or additional coin-operated machines at the location of customers or potential customers

Current and Future Trends of the Organised Retail Sector in India

Indian Retail industry estimated at US$435 billion is expected to witness a CAGR of 18.1% over the next 4-5 years and reach US$ 848 billion. Penetration of organized players is estimated to increase to 11% from the current level of 7% with the organized segment projected to grow at approximately 29% CAGR. Indian retail industry has been growing at a steady pace fuelled by factors like changing lifestyles, rising disposable incomes, favourable demographics, and easy credit availability.

Retail is one of the largest employers of Indian workforce with about 90% of the employment concentrated in frontend/retail customer associate profiles at store level operations. Soft skills such as communication skills, interpersonal skills are the key criteria for employability for both entry level and middle level jobs at the store-end. The industry currently employs over 31 million workforce in conventional retail segments and additional 7.6 million in specialized retail segments like QSR, auto and jewellery retail as on 2013. Employment base of the industry expected to reach 40.4 million by 2022 in conventional retail segment and 15.55 million in specialized retail segment. This would translate into an additional 17.35 million employment opportunities during the period 2013-22.
