The tasks a Stockist is expected to perform include:

Stocking goods of one or more producers or manufacturers and selling them to dealers at prescribed rates

Discussing and deciding on terms and conditions e.g. rates of commission, pricing of the product credit facilities, etc with manufacturers and producers

Ordering the goods from manufacturers and producers in the required quantity

Arranging for proper storage of goods

Sellingandsupplyinggoodstodealersintheconditionandquantitypromised

Collecting commission form the manufacturers, producers or from their agents

Maintaining necessary records related to the government policies regarding income tax, sales tax, vat etc.

Supplying to the direct customers of manufacturers and producers if necessary

Acting as a purchasing or selling agent for government authorities or other agencies if required.
