The tasks of a Pilot, Ship is expected to perform include:
Directing movement of ship in and out of confined waters such as cannels, rivers, harbours, etc.
Boarding vessel outside confined waters
Assisting Captain, Ship in navigating and manoeuvring vessel safely into port
Assisting Captain in manoeuvring vessel when leaving port
Knowledge of bringing the ship into the harbour and anchoring it
Knowledge about the port, its waters and local conditions
Ability to ensure safe passage, berthing and unberthing of ships
Knowledge to navigate the ship on behalf of the owner and master of the vessel
Ability to handle ships of different shape, size, propulsion, engine, etc.
Ability to moor and unmoor ship in harbour
Ability to focus for long hours
Diligent and hardworking
Ability to follow instructions
Good communication skills
Highly motivated and self-driven
Physically fit
